I’m Wendy and I’m one of the financial advisors at Cogent, a small, friendly company based in Bedfordshire and covering Hertfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Cambridge, London and beyond.
What I love about my job is helping people to understand their finances. Buying a mortgage, insurance or equity release plan can be a confusing business, so I like to break information down so it can be easily understood. After all, you can’t make a decision if you haven’t got a clue what anything means!
Before moving into the financial sector I was a computer programmer so I’m used to taking volumes of information and stripping it down into easy-to-digest nuggets. I gave up that job because I was spending too much time in front of a screen and not enough with people – which is another reason why I love what I do now.
When I come to see you to talk about your finances, I take the time to get to know you. I’ll ask lots of questions that will help me understand your current financial situation and your future aspirations. It’s about me building up a picture of you and your financial needs. There’s no hard sell – just lots of chatting over a cup of tea.
By the way, I hold nationally recognised qualifications – just ask me if you want to see them. I’m also a member of the Later Life Academy.
Want to know a bit about me personally? I live in Barton-le-Clay and I’m a married mum of three grown-up boys. I love outdoor life and often spend weekends touring the UK in our caravan. At home, I’m a real foodie – nothing makes me happier than cooking for my lovely friends and family.
